Our score · #1 of 5 Gold IRA companies

Our top-ranked Gold IRA company. The lowest complaint rate we found and clear fees, but a $50,000 minimum and gold and silver only.

Score from our published formula. We may earn a commission from this link; it never changes our review. How we make money.

Short answer: Augusta Precious Metals is our #1 Gold IRA company, mainly because of its record: just one Better Business Bureau complaint in three years, a simple flat fee schedule and clear buyback terms. The catch is a $50,000 minimum, so it only suits larger rollovers.

How we reviewed it: we scored this company with our published Gold IRA formula using its published fees, minimum, Better Business Bureau record (checked October 14, 2026) and buyback terms, plus independent reviews listed under Sources. We have not opened an account with this company ourselves.

Fees

Augusta charges $275 up front, which covers the first year. After that, yearly fees are about $225 with shared storage or $275 with segregated storage (your metal kept apart from other customers’). Some fees are confirmed on a call rather than listed on its website, so ask for the full schedule in writing.

These fees don’t include the markup on the metal itself, which is usually the biggest cost of a Gold IRA and is rarely itemized. Ask for the price over spot in writing before you sign. Gold IRA fees explained →

Complaint record

Augusta had 1 BBB complaint in the last three years against 136 BBB customer reviews, or about 0.7 complaints per 100 reviews. That’s the best rate of the six companies we track. It holds an A+ BBB rating.

Selling your metal back

Augusta doesn’t guarantee a buyback, but it has historically bought metal back, typically at about 5% below its current selling price with no separate liquidation fee. Get the current terms in writing before you buy.

Who it’s for, and who should skip it

A good fit if you’re rolling over $50,000 or more and want the company with the cleanest complaint record.

Look elsewhere if you have less than $50,000 to move (look at Noble Gold at $20,000), or you want platinum or palladium.
